Over the winter I have been invited to demonstrate pastel portraits at the Weald of Kent,  Pevensey Bay and the Fairlight Art groups. These events were very well attended by interested members and everyone seemed so enthusiastic and excited about this versatile medium. By popular demand I have organised a special day workshop specifically dedicated to Pastels. Although places are limited to just 10 students, if needed I can arrange for a follow up workshop so no one will miss this enjoyable opportunity.

I have booked Peter ( pictured) to model for the day, so we shall be concentrating on skin tone using a variety of coloured pastel paper and different ways of applying and mixing soft pastels. A range of papers will be available to purchase at a discounted price on the day, A2 drawing boards are provided, I have a number of spare easels but please bring your own and don’t forget a packed lunch.

Workshop date – Saturday 22nd March, 10 am to 3 pm, £35. Ring me on (01424) 424010 to book a place.

INTRODUCING COLOUR in 2014

January 6, 2014

Tuesday morning Portrait classes are bursting with colour in the New Year. During December students started working with pastels as a natural progression from charcoal and chalk, gradually adding one colour per session to build confidence with the medium. With a wonderful variety of new models to draw from, the results are very successful with some very powerful images produced. During the course we spend five weeks working with each medium so everyone can experiment with techniques. Pastels are followed by watercolour pencils,  this changes the scale as well as the application method and leads quite naturally to painting from drawing.

Working with colour and painting methods are planned for 2014

New students are always welcome to join the course just ring Juliette on (01424) 424010 for details
