Art courses for 2010 – 2011

Now in it’s fourth year, Mountfield Community Arts are pleased to announce the new courses beginning on Tuesday 14th September:

PORTRAITS with Juliette Dodd  ~ Tuesday at 10 – 12.30, starting the term with ‘back to basics’ concentrating on drawing skills using pencils, conte, charcoal and pen & ink. WATERCOLOUR PAINTING with Barbara Valentine ~ Tuesday at 1  – 3.30 pm, all abilities welcome to learn different techniques working from seasonal still life or students own personal projects under expert guidance. Fee £78 for 10 week term. For bookings contact Barbara on (01424) 838264

MIXED-MEDIA with Barbara Valentine ~ Wednesday at 10 – 12.30, master a variety of media including acrylics, gouache, inks, pastels and oil paints. Fee £78 for 10 week term. All abilities welcome

MINIATURE PAINTING with Barbara Valentine ~ Wednesday at 1 – 3.30 pm, a specialist course aimed at students with previous painting experience. Working on Ivorine with oils or watercolour paints, specialist brushes on sale at reduced price. Fee £78 for 10 week term.

Bring your own art materials but don’t worry there is always spares if you forget plus paper for sale at cost price and easels to borrow.

Please contact the tutor to book a place, new students are welcome to a taster class before enrolling for a term. All classes are friendly and relaxed, tutors are experienced practising artists.

Tea, coffee and other refreshments are available during the break for 50p.

Many students exhibit and sell their artworks at local art society shows.

PORTRAIT CLASS with Juliette Dodd on Tuesday mornings 10 am – 12.30 pm

27th April – Introducing Acrylic paints using one colour, brown and white on watercolour paper

4th May – Acrylics using two colours, brown, blue and white on watercolour paper

11th May – Acrylics – skin tones on canvas

18th May – Acrylics – colour and technique on canvas

25th May- Acrylics –  Last portrait class until September

SUMMER SCHOOL – Portraits in Oils on Tuesday mornings 10- 12.30, starting 8th June for six weeks , last class 13th July. Fee £70

Suitable for beginners, two models each for 3 weeks, step by step demonstrations covering a variety of techniques, working on canvas and board, oil paints and pallets provided.
