Carrying on the popular costumed workshops, this month we present  ‘An Edwardian Lady in her Boudoir’. Beautiful model will pose in her camisole at her dressing table with surrounding props to set the scene (Not the model pictured )

Evoking the themes of Renoir and the Impressionists, white on white, light dancing on the freshness of youthful beauty.

Workshop suitable for oils, acrylics and pastels  with the same pose for the whole day.

* The Pose begins at 10am – including props, costume and model

* Finish at 3pm with the grand cleaning of the brushes ritual

* Tutored workshop – individual guidance to all participant.

* All abilities very welcome

* Paints, canvas and portable easels can be provided on request.

After an intensive three weeks working on the smooth surface of board, the results were very successful.

Students found they needed to use less oil than when painting on canvas as well as being able to blend the colours more easily.

Keiran impressed us all with his ability to stay incredibly still while in period costume, along side a Veritas still life ( symbolic objects ). The more experienced students chose to include this into their compositions, which added a narrative to the finished painting.

By the end of the summer school everyone felt more confident with oil paints and are eager to continue.
