COVID-19 CLOSURE

August 23, 2020

IMG_0114

At this time of year we are usually busily preparing for Septembers class and the new term; sadly the current worldwide pandemic has changed things for everyone. It is our regret to inform all our past, current and future students that our weekly Art classes at Mountfield are being suspended until next year or when the virus situation is under control.

Your safety has always been at the forefront of our concerns and now more than ever, we wish to keep you all protected from any rogue contagion. Mask wearing, hand washing and social distancing is currently required in all public confined areas – but the best way to evade infection is to avoid such situations and places unless absolutely necessary.

We all hope that 2021 will see an improvement locally, nationally and worldwide in the spread and treatment of this horrid virus so we can continue coming together to learn and share our joy of Art. We really hope you have found time to immerse yourself in your unique creativity and we are happy for you to share your pictures with us via our social media facebook group ‘Mountfield Community Arts’

We will keep you updated on the situation in the new year, in the meantime, stay safe, stay protected and keep drawing and painting.

Our fondest best wishes,

Barbara and Juliette

An intensive five week course starting on Tuesday 14th May, with weekly demonstrations and step by step guidance to suit all learners.

Aimed at total beginners, these informative sessions will guide you through the application techniques and many special properties of this interesting medium.

Starting at a gentle pace and working from a variety of different models, we will study colour mixing and the use of mediums to create one or two pictures per session.

The most notable character of Acrylic paints are their extremely fast drying time – this makes the painter work speedily and spontaneously; something that takes a while to get used to if you’re usual medium is watercolours.

PROS – fast drying time – paint over mistakes easily – water soluble – lights over darks – cheap to buy – paint on any surface

CONS – fast drying time – lurid colours – dries a darker shade – can ruin brushes – stains clothes –

* TOP TIPS – invest in a quality thick white Acrylic paint, use cheap brushes and wear an apron/old clothes.

COURSE DATES – 14th, 21st May ( Half Term 28th) 4th, 11th, 18th June –

TIME – Tuesdays 10 am – 12.30

VENUE – Mountfield Village Hall

FEE – £60 if using your own paints/ £75 for paints/brushes to be supplied
